Sorry folks, this isn't another free book giveaway.
Just a recommendation that you click over to Amazon and order a copy of "Get Content. Get Customers." by Joe Pulizzi and Newt Barrett. I had the pleasure of reading the galleys a couple of months ago, when Joe -- the man behind Junta42 and a staunch advocate of 'content marketing' -- asked me to give it a look and, provided I liked what I saw, provide a blurb.
Like it, I did, so I gave him a solid blurb that that goes something like this:
"Joe Pulizzi and Newt Barrett take one of the core concepts of new marketing -- that providing consumers with valuable content trumps bombarding them with irrelevant advertising -- and give brands a treasure trove of tips, tricks, best practices and actionable approaches for using original online and offline content as a weapon in the battle for bottom line results. Get Content. Get Customers. provides a play-by-play for any marketer who is serious about breaking away from the pack, upsetting the status quo and moving beyond interruption marketing by offering compelling content that delivers real value for consumers and real revenue for their companies."
I suppose that's as good an endorsement as any -- although I feel compelled to add that this isn't yet another book that's long on vision yet short on practical applications. Joe and Newt deliver practical advice that virtually any marketer can use, even if your idea of 'content' tends more toward printed newsletters and custom magazines than it does toward blogs, podcasts and electronic books.
