The redesign of USAToday.com to incorporate a host of social media features and functionality was greeted with some entusiastic response from big name bloggers over the weekend, but plenty of negative response from the site's visitors themselves. Here's just one example:
You can see the rest here. As I write this, the feedback is by no means all negative, but it does seem to be heavily slanted in that direction. It's interesting to see how regular people react when a beloved old media stalwart gets a Web 2.0 refresh. Mainstream media and social media are two very different things -- and sometimes we need the audience to remind us that this is still the case. I'll be interested to see how this unfolds.
