Blog post interrupted
I was going to blog about something else today, but as I clicked around the web to pull some links related to my topic (including one for a story referenced on my local ABC owned-and-operated station), I was "greeted" by this:
What a lose-lose-lose-lose proposition! I got a crappy media experience. ABC has pretty much guaranteed that I'll never turn to their site for news again. I'm even tempted to cancel my Netflix subscription just because they've pissed me off. As for the other advertisers who paid for legitimate, IAB standard placements on the page? Hope you got a discount, given that the pop-up partially obscured your real estate and pretty much guaranteed that I wouldn't click through.
Show of hands -- who thinks that interruption advertising is a smart marketing model?
Damn, I sound like Jaffe - who is the only mentioned party who gets a link because he hasn't pissed me off today... yet. And because I work for him - seriously, it's in my contract (no it isn't.)
